我不求永远的富足，

但求贫困时有你的预备，

丰富时能帮助缺乏之人。

 

我不求永远的健康，

但求病痛时得你的医治，

强健时多为你作事。

 

我不求永远的成功，

但求失败时有你的扶助，

成功时归荣耀于你。

 

我不求永远的欢乐，

但求悲伤时得你的安慰，

喜乐时不会忘忽所以。

 

我不求永远的安宁，

但求挫折中有你的同在，

平静时乐于寻求你的面。

 

我不求每一次祈祷都蒙应允，

但求每一次你都垂听；

且让我知道应允时是你的怜悯，

不应允时更藏着你的美意。

 

I do not ask that I will always have abundance,

But that when I am in need, there will always

be Your supply,

And that when I have plenty, I can help those

who are in want.

 

I do not ask that I will always enjoy good health,

But that when I am sick I may receive

Your healing touch,

And when in good health I may serve You the more.

 

I do not ask that I will always know success,

But that when I meet failure I may know

Your support,

And that in success I may give the glory to You.

 

I do not ask that I will know unending happiness,

But that when sorrow comes I may receive

Your comfort,

And when I am joy I will not forget the Source.

 

I do not ask for perpetual, unending peace,

But that in trial I may know Your presence with me,

And in tranquility I may be more willing to seek

Your face.

 

I do not ask that all I pray for will be granted,

But I ask You to hear each request I make.

Make me aware that each time You grant what I ask

it is by Your mercy,

And when my prayer is not granted I can taste more

fully of Your gracious will.
